NUAN play a loud and passionate 90’s influenced rock. The band played with ALICE IN CHAINS, THERAPY?, POTHEAD, MONDO GENERATOR, STEF BURNS (Alice Cooper), WILL HUNT (Evanescence, Black Label Society) and NICK OLIVERI (Kyuss, Queens of The Stone Age, Mark Lanegan).
NUAN is the new name the band choose after many years playing and having fun under the name of Shame.
After building their very own unique sound (and spending six years touring all over northern Italy) they recorded their first EP, “Sad”, in 2004. Sad includes five brand new tracks (“Goldring”, “Queen Of The Blue Train”, “Bridge Of Sighs”, “Sunday” e “Crashed Thoughts”) and sells 500 copies straight out, with absolutely no promotional aid whatsoever.
In 2005 the band shoot their first music video (“Sunday”).
Two years later they release their first album – the 11 track “Gone”.
Poison Tree Records – an American independent label based in Santa Monica, CA - promote the LP for a whole year, while the band make their second video “Additive”.
The band record a new single in 2011: “Induction Of Penitence”, which includes the unreleased “Apocalypto” and “The Burning Flag”. The massive musical learning curve undergone over the past few years is very evident.
2014 sees “Entropia”, the band’s second album – which receives so much positive acclaim from the critics to attract Unable Records’ immediate attention.
The American label quickly takes on both promotion and distribution of the album.
2015 marks the beginning of a new era for the band.
A change of drummer and the addition of a second guitar gives them an even more energetic impact. The new line-up take themselves to the States for a 5 show mini-tour venues of Seattle that made musical history: The Central, High Dive, Funhouse, Substation and Slim’s. During the above, they open twice for Son Of Man’s reunion shows (a well-known 90’s Seattle scene band that used to tour with Mother Love Bone and Alice in Chains).
The American tour is followed closely by Alternative Nation magazine, that give them front-page coverage with the headline “Italian Grunge Band Shame hits Seattle”.
Once back in Italy, they keep up their live show activities, and open Stef Burns’ Milan date of his European Tour. Stef is an american guitarist with close connections with Italy and multiple international projects (Alice Cooper, Huey Lewis & The News and many others).
The band give the light to a new single in May 2016: “Stargazer”, including two songs from the upcoming album, is published by Unable Records, the independent american label that decide to support the band after the positive experience with the previous full length. A new cd is out in October 2016: “Unicorn”, the best of Shame, is printed on a limited edition of 50 copies, including the more vibrant songs from the previous and sold out albums "Sad", "Gone" and "Entropia".
In May 2016 the band is on tour in Germany and Switzerland with the German/American band Pothead. After this positive experience Pothead keep Shame as their opening band for other shows in northern Europe in 2017.
In the early 2018 the band play in Italy and Switzerland with Will Hunt, the talented american drummer from Evanescence and Black Label Society. In June the band open the ALICE IN CHAINS show in Padova (IT). During the same period they reach the end of the recording sessions of the new album. The new songs are mixed by TAD DOYLE at Witch Ape Studio in Seattle. The leader of the historic SUB POP band TAD also play on the album. Called "11:11", the album is released on November 11th on CDs. The digital distribution by Distrokid reach over 150 digital stores and streaming services. The CDs’ artwork is a creation by Photocoyote, a visual artist that also worked for Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Mark Lanegan and more.
The album release show is held in Paris (France), with a double show at the Backstage Live Club on January 4th and 5th, 2019.
In February 2019 the band play with THERAPY? in Milan (Italy). In March the band is back on tour in Italy and Switzerland with Will Hunt and his band Thirst (USA).
After promoting the album for a year, on February 2020 NUAN play with Mondo Generator and Nick Oliveri from Kyuss and Queens of The Stone Age.
